Navigational Buoys-Lake Winnecook

In 2001 a permit was granted by the Maine Department of Conservation to mark the many hazards that exist on Lake Winnecook. At the onset a survey was conducted to identify many of these areas and subsequently place navigational buoys to mark hazards. Currently there are 36 buoys throughout the lake. While there is no guarentee that all areas have been identified to mark, it certainly has made the lake a little safer with their placement. Please be aware of the differant types of buoys that exist on Lake Winnecook and the significant meaning for each type of buoys.
